Hi, all:

Does anyone know of a good ASP or PHP-based reporting service/software suite that I can use to give users of a MSSQL database the ability to easily run and create reports?

We need to give non-technical users the ability to easily create reports that support groupings, totals, sorting, and columns for calculations.

At this point, we're ignoring the price tag.

Have you researched Crystal Reports?
There are a few others also.

Have you looked at microsoft reporting services for sql server?

I'll look at Crystal Reports. I'm positive we own a copy somewhere.

MSSQL reporting services was a bit of a disappointment, since it seemed to require Visual Studio to be installed, a suite that we do not own.

Thanks,

~Andrew

Yea, but that requires developer software if you want users to do their own reports.....

The part of vis studio you need comes on the SQL Disk from 2005 onwards.. BIDS is what you need (business intelligence development studio). If your looking to simplify things for users you can have drop down boxes with parameters. Report models may also be worth looking at if you have this software

We use Access 2003 and SQL Server 2005, the users create reports with Crystal Reports V10, or V11, (I am not sure), and they are satisfied with this arrangement.
