Auto Update Linked Forms

Hi,

I need help with linked forms.

I have two tables

tblSongData with fields - SongID(PrimaryKey), Song Title, Artist, Label

&

tblPublisher with fields- SongID, Publisher Name A, Publisher IPI#, Publisher B, Publisher B IPI #


The SongID fields are linked by a referentially enforced intergreity relationship.


I have built a linked form for people to update the SongTable and then click to add Publisher information, either one or multiple publishers.


How can I make it so the SongID field in the Publisher frm is automatically updated with the SongID field in the SongDatafrm?

I have tried a few things but can't figure it out. Please help.

you need a "Subform" (read up on that), the way it works is you have the main form whose ID is synced with the subform for each record of the main. the sub form/table needs an ID (numbertype), each of the sub records can have there own ID's but lets say you have 3 publishers for song ID 1, each of those subs will show ID 1 (song ID). It's hard to explain, so read first then post back.


your table structure looks ok, don't think of trying to "Copy" data to another table, this is all "relational".
