Does anyone know of an automated tool to check my vba code to make sure that all recordsets that have been opened are also closed and set to nothing?

Thanks,
Sup

Hi Bob,

I just tried Allen Browne's issue checker. It looks like a great tool, but it seems to only review tables and queries.

Am I missing something, I can't find where it reviews vba code?

Thanks,
Sup

That's what my last response was about. I said, I just got a chance to look at it and it does not do VBA checking.

Bob, Sup probably misunderstood your post in the same way I did. I thought you were saying that the utility I linked to would not do it. When I said "I can't remember if it checks for that", I was talking about my link, not yours (I hadn't seen your post when I posted). I just checked the link I posted, and I don't see it checking for Sup's particular issue, but it does do extensive VBA checking.

Ah, that is funny. The timing of posts can confuse and disorient, eh? Oh well, as long as we get it sorted out in the end... :D

So, does Thomas' tool able to be modified, or is it locked down? I tried downloading it earlier but I got a header error on the file and couldn't unzip it.

I only just discovered that tool myself, but I did run it on one db so I know it downloaded and installed okay (and apparently I'm lazier than I imagined, given the results :p ). I don't know if it can be modified; I haven't looked "under the hood".

Bob,

Sorry, I did assume you were responding to PBaldy.

I'm surprised that there isn't something out there that will check if recordsets are properly closed.

Thanks,
Sup
