Autonumber / Customer Reference field

Hi apologies if this has been asked before but is there any way to use an account reference from one field in a table on a second table and add a number after it... e.g.

Table 1 Table 2
PEFA PEFA/001
PEFA PEFA/002
PEFA PEFA/003
PEFA PEFA/004

and so on...

however, I would not store a complex field of that nature. I would keep both bits separate - 2 fields, one for prefix, one for serial number. much much easier to use in practice.
