Autonumber Screw Up!!

Hello,

I have a basic form and it has an Autonumber to consectutively number my forms to provide an ID number.

I was cruising along with no problems until today. Im on record number 247 and in the ID field it skipped to 248.

Is there anyway to fix this. Its important that I have these numbers in a row.

I checked out the form in datasheet view and 247 is no where to be found.

Ain't sure about it, but...
You could make a copy of the table (Structure only), then copy and paste all your datas, but the autonumber field. It will automaticaly give the number back in the sequence.

Whoa whoa whoa...

Autonumbers generate sequentially if you want them to BUT you will never guarantee no gaps...people delete records you know. If you want absolute sequences dont really on an autonumber. You have to create your own field and number them using code.
You NEVER use an autonumber to expect ascending order of sequential numbers.

Yeah,

Im finding out that its me, thats the big screw up?

I'll try Newmans fix and see if I can cure this and then fix my forms so this doesnt happen anymore.
