Hi all
I have tried ti use Bod Larson's AutoUpdating Utility I have created an mde file and when I copy the mde to the desktop and run open after changing version number teh program starts and then the mde gets deleted and the DOS window is opened and an error message is displayed

Windows cannot find "displays the path to my mde" Make sure you typed teh name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click Start buton, and then click Search.


What am I doing wrong

By the way I ma creating the mde in a different folder to the one with the master copy. Could this be the problem

You should have the latest copy of FE database in the same folder as the BE database. Otherwise it won't know where to load the latest version from.

Both my FE and BE are in teh sme folder it is the mde file that is in a different folder and this is the file being copied onto a user's dektop

The module and tables have all been copied and the correct location has been entered in teh locations table.

I dont understand. Bob Larson's utility is supposed to copy the FE database to each user. The FE database can be either .mdb or .mde. If each user has a .mde front end then it doesn't mastter where you keep the .mdb file but the .mde file needs to be in the folder referenced in tbl-version_master_location.

The MDE file needs to be in the master location as set in the master location table. If it isn't then it won't be able to find it.

I will create the mde in the same folder. I think that is where I was going wrong thanks to both of you
