Avoid query opening when viewing report

I have a problem that when I use a button that opens a report and have added a filter based on a query, then the query opens before the report is shown.
How can I avoid that. I just want to run the query without showing?
Do you understand what I mean?

I am wondering the same thing and cannot find an answer in any book or forum.

Base the report on the query. Instead of using the query as a filter.
