This is a basic thing, i think.

How do I link the backend tables to the front end so it works everywhere?
I mean right know it says C:\newproject\backend.mdb how do i change that to newproject\backend.mdb ?

Regards,

If you go through the Linked Table Manager, it assigns UNC names if that helps.

And to do that:

Re

Oh okey. You mean i have to have it on the net. Okey no problem i've got some hosts. I will make sure to add to both of your reputations :D

PS: This forum is really great..

SnagIt - only $39.95 and it makes doing those things real fast and easy. I just upload the shots to my hosting site and they're easily referenced. In fact this set was created for a different post, but reusable. :)

Hmm...

Im getting a FTP like window saying put in USER and PASSWORD for my host. ?

im writing it like this. //server.com/mydb/Back_End.mdb -wrong?

We were talking NETWORK locations NOT INTERNET.

Okey clearly i dont understand what you talking about...

NETWORK locations is what ?

When you have multiple computers all interconnected in a home or in a business. When in a business there usually are several servers running Windows Server 2000 or 2003 and each employee has a computer and they are all connected. They usually have "shares" which allow different groups of authorized people to save files to "file servers."

Oh okey then you didnt understand my first question. I wanted the folder with the back_end.mdb and front_end.mdb to work where ever I took it without having to change the filepath in link manager all the time. Isnt that possible ?

The answer was given to you, if it is on a network. If not, then the answer is you would need to have a backend on your website and use something else to work with it, like ASP.NET or something like that. A straight Access front-end will not link to the web.

Ohh okey. That's to much in that case. Okey thanks for the answer than!

Appreciate it :D
