Good Morning All,

I have recently created a contacts database which i have split into a front end and back end. The front ends will be kept on the users PC's, with the back end being kept on a folder on the server. (It will only have permissions for those who require access to it)

The issue the company has is is that any user with acess to the folder with the back end could make a copy of it. This is very sensitive data which cannot be taken.

I understand I can password protect the backend but from looking online this is reasonabily easy to bypass.

I could put the back end in a hidden folder, but if found this doesnt solve the issue.

Is there any other methods/solutions anyone could suggest? I have looked online but cannot find anything that is suitable for us.

I appreicate your time spent in helping me.

I think they are out of luck tbh. If the file has read access - which it must even if everything is read only, then it can be copied.

The only real route would be to move the data into a more secure backend - MySQl - MS SQL Server etc.

If there are any reports or data forms in your front end that allow end users to list all contacts, you are already at a point of having to trust your users anyway. It's a moments work to copy and paste a datasheet view into a local excel sheet.

Thank you for your quick response.

I thought this would be the case.

Thank you though.
