I am trying to back up my DB can you tell me where to find the tool to do this.

In menu, Tools -> Database Utilites -> Backup

Access Help can provide you with more information about how it works.

This link should offer a few suggestions on that topic.

thats what i thought but it not listed in the tool's menu. is there a reason for this?

If I convert 2003 to 2000 the Backup is there as Banana described.

If yours is like 2003 you might need to click on a downward arrow when you open Tools as the default setting only shows some of the options.

Is it a .mde file instead of .mdb file?

Is it a secured database?

I have Access 2002 (XP) and no Backup option is available on the Tools menu. From Access help:
Back up an Access database

Close the Microsoft Access database. If you are using the Access database in a multiuser environment, confirm that all users have closed the database.

Using My Computer, the Microsoft Windows 2000 Backup and Recovery Tools, or other backup software, copy the Access database to a backup medium of your choice.
