We have an Access report which is a case list. The case numbers are printed on the report in a barcode font. The case number format is "M" followed by 5 digits (There is also code to surround it with asterisks). Our scanning process also uses a separate preprinted sheet with barcodes that represent text, e.g. "PRENATAL", "DONE" etc. Both have been scanning OK for a while. Since last week it would not scan the case numbers. It continues to scan the text data perfectly.

Scanning from a different distance seems to have no effect.
The font in the Access report said "3 of 9 Barcode". I changed it to "Code39-WideTT-Regular". This made the barcode look bigger (taller) but it still wouldn't scan.

Since it scans the text paper OK, it seems that the scanner itself is working.

Another "it used to work but stopped working" problem. Does anybody have any more ideas on this? Thanks for your help.

Did you check if the text box that contains the barcode is wide enough to show the full barcode? Another possibility is that the barcode is too close to other text or lines at it's ends.

Thanks, Peter. You had the right idea. I decreased the size of the text box and the point size of the barcode to move it away from another line on the side. That did the trick. Thanks again for your help.
