Currently i have a table with approximatly 1000 records in it. Each record has three calculations in it 1) to find out the products age 2) to do calculation based on this 3) to multiply stage 2 by 37.
As these are date dependable every record needs to be updated every day, at the moment i am using a very clunky macro to do this but for speed and a better database what methods would you recomend? VBA, Update Query......

Many thanks

Edward

Don't store the calculated fields - just work them out when you need them.

Update

If you have calculated fields in your table the database design is basically incorrect. Having those fields may cause data inaccuracies at some point, it causes storage overhead and in your case leads to extra work.

Generally calculations are done in a query, basing forms and reports on that
query will enable you to have accurate and up to date information at any time without having to update the records (unless some basic info has to be changed).

Thanks for the replys, as soon as i read them i realised that i had designed it pretty badly, must have been having a bad day!!! I now have a query to do the calculations for the table, and its all working!!

Thanks once again,

Edward
