as i know, i can import data from excel. but is it possible to make data permanently at excel? i mean Access as a system n excel as data storer..

if possible plz tell me how...

thanks

Yes, you can link Excel spreadsheets as tables in an Access databse. You loose a lot of control and its a poor trade off, but it's perfectly possible. I often do it for one off data manipulation projects, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything serious (though other people do it).

Addition to neileg's advice: If you have titles in the Excel sheet that is linked as a table, it will very likely cause your DB to have errors unless you have a clever way picked out to exclude all titles, column headers, etc. when you run a query based on same.

Also, if I recall correctly, there are limitations on the actions you can take when Excel is your storage medium and Access is your front end. Among them, I believe, is that you have Bloody Hell if you want to add fields to the table through Access. You have to make the changes to Excel, delete the Access table, and then re-link to the Excel to update the fields. (Unless this has changed VERY recently.)

urgh... so, do u guys mean make Excel as data storage very risky?
is it true that u need to re-make Access table from fresh if u want to change, insert, delete table in excel?...

OMG...
