Hey guys,

got a little (big) problem.

I have an all done Access Database, which runs only on my comp and works just fine for that.

Now I would like to get it online, so that the forms, reports and all can be accessed from the www. Also I would like to use signin with different passwords and access levels.

Now I don't have much experience with this.

Where shall I start? How is something like this put into effect?

I read about splitting the DB in a Front and Backend DB, distributing the FrontDB to the ppl. Can I use logins with pw here?

And since this would have the backdraw that the users would need the frontenddb, can I switch to something else? If yes, what? mySQL and PHP? Or just the access db with ASP page access?

Can someone pls give me some advice to get me started?

For the front and back end, yes, you can use login and password.

The other stuff im not sure on. Sorry =(

I am no expert, but from reading here I believe the concensus is use ASP or ASP.Net. What I have read is that these web enabled programs may need special servers and software. Also what I understand is, there is alot to do with read/write access on the hosting server which apparently has loads of security concerns for the ISP/Hosting Server.

Like I said, I am no expert but I did find out it is not as easy as taking you A2K DB and copying it to a WWW address, it is quite abit more involved then that, at least from my perspective. I am sure some ASP person will laugh at my comments and say..."this is why I can charge tons for this..." ;)

Good luck
