calculating a column in a query

I have a simple query that pruduces a list of payments .I need to total this list

Simplest might be to total it in the form/report you're presenting the data with. Alternatively, you can use a totals query or DSum(). If you need it in the query, you can use a UNION query to join that query to one returning the total.
