calculating date difference excluding weekends in access

I have a query that is looking to calculate staff absence.

Absence Start date & Return to work date

Looking to calculate number of days (not a problem) but to exclude weekends ie saturday and sunday ????

Not sure if this can be done --- any assistance would be greatly received.

Set the first parameter for the datediff function to 'W' for weekday. Then the function will count the weekdays between the two dates.

i know this is gonna be a bit of a bump and may annoy some people, sorry
but i have to say this just helped me so much on something id spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to do and so

Hi -

Despite what the help file may tell, the "w" option does not return number of weekdays, but rather the number of full weeks. Example: ? datediff("w", #3/4/07#, #3/11/07#) returns 1.
