So, I have to use A2003 for all my Access development, as Access 2007 and 2010 are both unusable to a programmer. So I upgraded Outlook by installing Office 2010, but it deleted all files related to A2003.

So, my question is, now that I have Office 2010, can I now reinstall A2003?

My question centers around the fact that many DLL files are scattered in several directories, and are used by both Access and Office.

you can install both

the office files go in separate folders - I have these

c:\program files\microsoft office\office = Office 97
c:\program files\microsoft office\office10 = Office 2002/XP
c:\program files\microsoft office\office11 = Office 2003
c:\program files\microsoft office\office12 = Office 2007
c:\program files\microsoft office\office14 = Office 2010

I presume 13 was not used, for bad luck. I don't have Office2000 - but i presume its office9

note that moving from A2003 to A2010 and back causes the respective version to reinstall. It's not a problem, but it IS mildly irritating.

Thank you. I installed A2003, and it also linked the MDB files to A2003, which is what i wanted. Then I started Outlook 2010, and it did not ask me to install Office 2010 again.

At which point do you think Office 2010 will try to reinstall? Because the reinstall will link the MDB files to the trial version of A2010 which I do NOT want. Grr.

i thought if you tried to switch between A2003 and A2007 or A2010 - the switch causes access/office to reinstall

using say word2010 or excel2010, and A2003 doesn't cause any issues - but i suspect moving between Excel2003 and Excel2010 would.
