Cancel Button on a form

Hi Guys,

Please can you help. I want to put a cancel button on a form so that if the user clicks on the 'add new record button' and a new record is displayed and they make changes to it (or not) they can cancel what they are doing and be back where they started. The problem I currently have is that when I try to do this I get a message that says I must enter data into certain fields. Is there a way to cancel straight out as though they were never there?
