Can't open report

I have a report that pulls from a crosstab query. The report shows Reg and OT hours for employees in a certain time frame.
The query works right, but when I try to open the report and there is not OT hours, the report says Microsoft does not recognize " as a valid fieldname or expression.

Now, I can go into the parameter of my query and set the parameter values, but if I do that, then it wont pull in OT if there actually are OT hours. I have to enter starting date, ending date, and then when OT parameter value comes up, I hit enter and report opens, but no OT hours.

Does that make sense?

I need it to look at the query and if the query does not have OT hours, just open the report anyway and show Reg hours. If it does have OT hours, then, of course, display them.

Can someone please help?

In the CrossTab Query QBE Grid you can specify the Columns by setting the Columns Heading Property of the Field that is your Column field. Set this to REG and OT.

When you do this you will always have the two columns.

I have already tried that. In fact, this is what I have in the criteria section of column heading PAYCODE.
In("Reg", "OT")

And the query works fine, If there is no OT for that week the query simply shows only reg hours.

It is when I try to open the report that I encounter the problem. If there is OT for that week, the report opens fine and displays the reg and OT hours. If I do not have OT for that week, the report will not open at all unless I go back to query and set parameter of OT.

Can you help?
