Capture User Information

I want to capture the identity of the person creating or modifying a record in my database and write it in a field of the record they are adding/changing. I feel sure that it is possible, but am clueless as to getting started.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you use Access Security:

CurrentUser()

If you want the network user, either the Environ function or:

Thanks! I tried the Access security but it locked all of the databases that other people were using. I'll check out the url you provided.
