Hi Folks,

Thanks for reading this. I have a form on which there is a combo box that has names of many merceological sectors (Level 1). After the user has selected the sector (Level 1), I need the combo box for (Level 2) to be updated by itself with the names of the (Level 2) in (Level 1). I have seen this feature innumerable times on the Web while filling out forms. How should I implement this in my Access form ? Any ideas are most welcome.

For your curiosity I am using a coding and classsification system called NAICS and SICS

Level 1 name
Level 1 code (2 digits)

Level 2 name
Level 2 code (3 digits)

Level 2 name
Level 2 code (4 digits)

Level 3 name
Level 3 code (5 digits)

Level 4 name
Level 4 code (6 digits)

I have been told that this process is referred to cascading combo boxes:
I am having problems with above procedure and also as stated below:

Need to display the values
Need to save the values
Need to update combo boxes
Need to proceed to next record

Would welcome all detailed information as possible in simplest form, as my knowledge of access and SQL is still very novice level

Thanks a lot in advance.

Vic

merceological

Out of interest, what's that?

And don't spam the board with multiple posts - I've deleted those that are surplus.

If you can do a one level cascade with two combos then it's the same principle for multiple levels. The next one down just refers to the combo immediately above it.
