14 character limit for passwords prior to A2007. Since then 20 characters.
I totally agree that no file based app such as Access can ever be 100% secure. Indeed I made that exact point in a presentation I did for both UKAUG and the Access Lunchtime group earlier this month. However you can erect various barriers to make it so difficult to crack that even experienced hackers may feel it isn’t worth the time and effort.
