QUESTION:

In MSAccess 2002, when you change the name of a field in a table, does that name change cascade to all other references?

It seems in my trial that it did cascade to some querie & form fields, however not to everything though I can't recall what objects were not changed.

Basically just need a refresher that answers the question above.

Many thanks.

The Name AutoCorrect thingie in Tools | Options - General tab is supposed to do this for all objects (queries, forms and reports). But it won't touch any references made in VBA.

There are two things to consider with the Name Autocorrect option
1 - be carefull to rely upon it. From what I've read, it doesn't always work as intended (doesn't always change all references). I believe some of it might occur when not having the latest service packs... But I tend not to use/rely upon it.

2 - you will most probably see a change in performance when you turn it off, especially when loading "heavy" forms.

Additionally, in some versions, at least 2000, but perhaps also later versions, having the thing turned on, made reports always return to default page settings, regardless of how you set it (confirmed bug). Later versions/service packs are said to resolve it.

- so you'll often find recommandations to turn the feature off, at least when deploying the app.

Thanks very much for your reply! Interesting information I did not have!
