cases open on given day

I have tried and tried to figure this out, with no luck. So I'm asking for someones help.

I'm trying to find the CASE_ID for all cases which were open (case status O) on 12/31/2005 in the sample DB attached. There are only two tables to work with.

That's because there are no cases open on that day, or closed.

There were several cases which were open on that day. Please see case status table. The case status that is showing is the case status as of today. What I'm looking for are any cases which were status O on 12/31/2005. I'm not interested in the cases that opened on 12/31/2005. I guess I didn't make myself clear...sorry about that. Mike
