Change height property in form and data not showing up

I need to change the height property of my fields on a form depending on how much text is in one of them. When I do this on the form load property,
the data does not display. When I comment out this code, the data displays.
I even changed the CanGrow/CanShrink properties for each field to Yes and it still doesn't work.

Any clues why this is happening?
