The lack of clarity is that for 5 nibbles, you have to express 0AC44 as your desire, because when you say AC44, that is 4 nibbles and taken from the middle of 6 available nibbles. The leading zero makes that one easy. I'm worried about whether you have "packed" nibbles or whether there is something else going on. In the 17 70 03 case, what happens to the 3? Is that the leading nibble for the NEXT sequence? Or is it discarded?

In essence, you have to clarify what happens next because to help you more than as already discussed, we would need to know what happens after you process the first 5 nibbles.
