Is there a way to check to see what version(s) of access a user has before opening the db? A way to search the hard drive for versions of access and then based on what version(s) they have it would open a specific application. Or at least a way for it to return to the user what version the have. I have users with mutiple versions of access installed and I don't know where to have there shortcut point to for the application. Thanks...

Within Access the SysCmd object return the access version number

var = SysCmd(acSysCmdAccessVer)

Why don't you just search for all msaccess.exe's, and build a shortcut pointing to the one you want to use

access shortcuts

you'll find that users with multiple versions will have their msaccess.exe files in different folders.

in the shortcut you send them you can tell it which version to fire up. the first fires up access xp/2002 (office10)

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\Documents and Settings\Matrix\MATRIX_V1.20_RFI.mdb" /WRKGRP "O:\AIOC FFD Project\Request For Issue\Matrix\Databases\Security\Live\Matrix.mdw"

this fires up access 97 (office)

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\Documents and Settings\Matrix\MATRIX_V1.20_RFI.mdb" /WRKGRP "O:\AIOC FFD Project\Request For Issue\Matrix\Databases\Security\Live\Matrix.mdw"

hope this helps
