Code Error and System Error

I have 2 issues.
1. I have a report that my boss is wanting and it is very large. I have had to include 3 union queries and many fields. I have tried to trim it down and cut out the unions, but just not possible. The report is extremely slow and that is one problem. The other is I would like to be able to use a form and a combo box to sort the report. I put my code in and I keep getting error messages. I will attach my code.

2. When I run this report, more often than not it performs an error and kicks me out of Access. I have installed all the available updates. Any suggestions? Thanks

You maybe able to increase performance by running some append queries to a work table and then basing your report off the work table (temp table, report table whatever you want to call it). Also you can create the report query without the order by, and then concatanate the order by to the record source:
Reports![JAMES REPORT ACTUALS].recordsource = Reports![JAMES REPORT ACTUALS].recordsource & " ORDER BY MySortSequenceGoesHere;"
I just don't recall if you have to account for and remove a semicolon ";" from the record source before you do that.
