Hi all,

I was having a problem with getting my import wizard to work, so I posted here and was, thankfully, pointed in a direction that may lead me to solving the problem. The poster suggested I import the file into a new test table, print off the properties of the test table (I used the Documenter function) and emulate the properties in the real table (I'm doing all this in a test copy of the db!).

As I'm going through and comparing field properties, I'm seeing some discrepancies. Some of them may be minor and meaningless, but I'd sure love to understand the impact of those differences.

This post's question: CollatingOrder

In the test table, the CollatingOrder was set to Neutral, while in the real table, the Collating Order is set to General. The real table was created using the Design View, and the test table was created using the Import Wizard. I do not recall setting the CollatingOrder (or seeing it as an option) while creating the table using the Design View, so am I correct in assuming that the CollatingOrder: General is the default? If that's the case, why does the Import Wizard not use the same default?

During a search of this site, I came across a couple of posts that had CollatingOrder in the string, however there wasn't any specific information about it in the post.

While rooting around, I came across the Tools/Options method of accessing the parameter edit, but the drop down does not list Neutral as an option for that parameter/control.

Any background theory and resulting practical application insight anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. :)
