I have a report that displays 3 different colums of numbers.. and when I try to do a total for any one of the columns the sum option is greyed out and I cannot total any of the columns at the bottom of the report. Everything I have read says I should be able to do that.

Can you upload an extract of the database with the report on it. State which version of Access and the report name and the source name

Here is a copy of the db. The report I am trying to compile totals for is called rptPastWaterReport.

So of the 3 columns named:
MakeUpWater
A_FlowMeter
B_FlowMeter

I was able to use =Sum([MakeUpWater]) in the report footer and get it to work but when I try the same thing with the other two I keep getting a message saying:

This expression is typed incorrectly, or it is too complex to be evaluated. etc etc

Could someone please help with this?

The reason it does not work it because there is a data mismatch .
If you check for after the 10th July it works fine for all three sums. Now prior to 10th July in the column A you have a N/A Access does not like that , in column B you have numbers 000 these are not liked either .

Hope this of use to you

I notice that this is Solved . as no feedback i assume my answer to your post did not help / is so please share how you solved it.
