Column totaling help

Firstly an apology for creating a new thread if this has already been answered before.
Anyway I have a problem it’s been a long time since I’ve had to use access and my brain up to now just isn’t getting it, what I want to do produce a query that counts all the different items in a column and then displays their individual totals.

Here’s my attempted example of what I mean:
Column | Query Totals
AAA | AAA Total: 3
AAA
AAA
GG | GG Total 2
GG

Etc.

If this makes sense any help would be much appreciated.

best bet is to:

1. make a query which does the totals, one column for "AAA" and one for "3"
2. make another query based on the total query, and add the table which the first query has.
3. Join the columns containing "AAA".

The following query might give you want you want.

Select Mycol, Count(*) from Mytable Group By Mycol Order by Mycol;

I think what he wants is all the original data, ungrouped, with the count of it by the side:

AAA | 3
AAA | 3
AAA | 3
BBB | 2
BBB | 2
CCC | 5
CCC | 5
CCC | 5
CCC | 5
CCC | 5
