Is a Combo Box - search-as-you-type feature possible?
The example below shows what I am trying to accomplish.
But, a listbox control takes up more real-estate.

A Access 2007 Combobox has a thousand legal names in many different formats (company, partnerships, dba, individuals ...) in one field. Users asked to see a partial list by typing three or more characters.

The alpha order doesn't help. Example: Abby & Ted Mulxifer Ltd.

They asked for a Combo Box where the user types in "Mul" to bring up a short list showing all choices based on 3 or more of the characters in that field containing "Mul". The user sometimes receives a memo asking them to assign a permit to Mulxifer. Typing in "ulx" or "Mulx" would privide a Combo Box with fewer choices.

Text Search-as-you-type Example can be viewed or downloaded and does what I am looking for... but it uses a List Box and a lot of real-estate.

Does someone have suggestions for a Combo Box that can do the same type of string compair search from a single column?

Maybe this will help:
http://allenbrowne.com/AppFindAsUType.html

and when using a combo box you can set the autoexpand property to yes so it will popup values for you as you type but since they are not set until you either click on them or hit your enter key, the search as you type example (which I think uses a text box) could use the combo as long as you are referring to the text property of the combo instead of the value property.

Thanks again Bob! This lets me make a case for my customers. The autoexpand property is a great tip to mention as well.
Will look forward to putting this information to use.

Of course, I was hoping someone would say it is a new property setting in Access 2010. :-)
