Combo box won't display existing values

I had a text box in a contacts DB form for the State field (Named txtState). It worked fine. I decided to replace it with a combo box. Now not only will it not display the existing values, but to rub salt in the wound it won't allow me to select from the drop down list. The error message that says that the field is too small for the value. I tried changing each of the yes/no properties one at a time but none of them change the outcome.

I that case i would be making fresh combo box after deleting this one

Could it be the table field length that is set to lesser character as you try to store in it?

Alas, I thought of the table field length myself, but that was not the problem. As it turns out, the problem was that the wizard was inserting the full name of the state, not the abbreviation, no matter which options I selected. What I ended up doing was deleting the State Name field from the table... It worked!

Yeah I know, I need a better understanding of the combo box properties. :banghead:
