Access Combo boxes don't support multi-selection. Why do you want this? if we know why we may be able to help you

i have a list of teachers
some teach more than one subject, so i want to update what they teach.
on the other hand i want to be able to ask for the list of all biologists or all chemists...

For this scenario you need to have 3 tables

1) A table of teachers.
2) a table of Subjects.
3) a Junction table linking teachers and subjects.

On your form you can use a teacher combo box to select the teacher so you can add or amend the subjects they teach and a separate Subject Combo to show all the teachers for a specific subject.

Then turn the ordering on its head, instead of asking which teachers teach which subjects Ask which subject are taught by which teachers.

You have actually got a many to many relationship as many teachers can teach many subjects and many subjects are taught by many teachers. I think.

Having said that I may be wrong as one teacher can only teach one subject at any one time.
