Communication via the COMM Port

Hi all,

Does anyone know how you can send a code to the specified COMM port, and whatever data the device attached to the COMM port sends back, how do you display it in a field.

EG

Send a:- @W (command asking for weight data)

DATA RECIEVED:- 20.00 kg

Is there a way, I know it can be done but I can't come to grips with it.
