Gents I hope you can help me with this issue.

If my BE DB crashes I use compact/repair and it fixes the problem.

If I Just use compact/repair on my BE DB when nothing is wrong with it then it causes the data to disappear in certain fields.

Any Ideas what i am doing wrong. (Besides from telling why do you use this utility when nothing is wrong)

What version are you using?

If you compact/repair it and data disappears, it means that the data was corrupt in that field/record. It should have also given you an errors table showing the errors it recieved.

In order to review that table you have to have see invis object activated.

C/R is a utility to help 'defrag' the database and repair any possible corruptions. I have all of my databases set to C/R each time the DB is shut down.

selenau837 - thanks for your response. My DB jumped from 17 mb to 388 mb and I have run into all kinds of errors today and I am working on fixing them right now.

Holy cow!!! Good luck with it deary.

Get everybody out of the db. Make two backup copies. Search for and use the Microsoft Jet Compact Utility on the back end then run it on the front end.

ghudson - thank you for your help. I have learned to always make backups when changing or trying something new.
