Conditional formatting and transparent backstyle

I have a continuous form where i am highlighting the current record by using a control behind all the fields which have the backstyle set to transparent. This works perfectly other than fields where I am using conditional formatting. On these fields the conditional formatting is setting the backstyle to solid despite the fact that the field properties are set to transparent. Access 2003. Any ideas? Thanks. Dave
