control group yes/no defaulting to no when no default set

I have a form with control groups for yes/no answers. They wanted separate boxes for the y/n. I set no default on these since we want to force them to click on a yes or no. Yet when I open the form and add a new record, they all default to No. How can I get the form to show nothing in both the yes and no boxes? I have access 2010.

My guess is that the field in the underlying table that your option group is bound to is formatted as Yes/No. Now a Yes/No field can have only two states Yes or No the default being No. So whenever you move to a new record it appears as No on your form, despite the fact that you set no default value when you set the Option Group up on the form.

The solution is quite simple, format the field as a number. It will still store the values as -1 for Yes and 0 for No but will have no default value at table level, thus solving your problem.
