Copy a form from one table to another

Hi,

In my databse i have a table and a form. I need a new table which is almost indentical to the first table so i have copied it which has worked fine. How can i copy the form to the new table.

I have spent quite a while on the layout of the form and want it the same layout for all my tables.

Is this a easy things to do??

I'm having a wild guess here, but I suspect that if you are copying tables, and they have the same structure, that you may need to read up on Normalisation. But as this is only a wild guess I could well be wrong, and apologise if I am.

Given that your database is normalised (if it is not you are making things much harder for yourself) Just copy the form and change its data source so it gets its data from the desired table. I always use queries as the source for forms/reports as it makes it easier to change things if necessary.

Once i copied the form it appeared as a copy but i did have a look to see if i could just select what table it gets the information from but couldnt see where to select it.

At the miniute the form gets its informations from the table "fire maintenance certificate" is there an option on the copy to just change this to the other table "extinguisher certificate"

All you need to do is to go the the form design view, go to it's properties and change the Record Source property to the table you wish to use.

However, make sure that you take the advice suggested by the previous posters, as i'm afraid your data is not normalized.

When the form is in design view, click on the Data Tab, The first row on that tab is Record Source, click on the little down arrow to select a new Record Source form the list. You will have to go through all the controls on the form to re-link them to the correct Record Source as well.

Ive had a look but can only see control source changed all these and when i enter data into the form it is going in the old table.

when you go to the design view of the form and check the "record source" property is it showing the old table new or the one you want?

its the record source i cant find.

Cant find it anywhere.

when you're in design view of your form, go to the view menu and select properties. The record source is the first property under the Data tab.
