Urgent Help!!! Corrupt database

Hi guys. I was recently working on my database, performing a delete query on some data within a table. When running the query an error occured and my machine froze. I went into the task list to see what was active and MS Access was listed as not responding. I ended the task and MS Access reported that the application could not be closed at that time. Eventually it closed. However, when I returned to Access and attempted to re-open the database I could not access any of the databases contents. An initial error appeared that read something like indexes cannot be created. Check database spec, etc. I have never experienced anything like this and do not know what to do to remedy the problem? This DB contains masses of information that is vitally important. Any information or help would be much appreciated. I have attempted to use the common MS Access utilties but they do not work. I am using Access 97.

Many thanks,

Darren

Have your tried the free Microsoft Jet Compact utility? Click on the link below for the version of Access you are using. For more details, search the Microsoft Knowledgebase for Jet Compact. I have had a lot of success using Jet Compact to repair a db with index problems and Access could not repair itself.

Access 97: Updated Version of Microsoft Jet 3.5 Available for Download

Access 2000: Jet Compact Utility Available in Download Center

Access 2002: Jet Compact Utility Available in Download Center

Cheers. As you replied to this another colleague provided the same information. This resolved the problem with the database. Many thanks for the reply.
