I'm not sure what happened or how.

I opened a form that I hadn't used in awhile and it closed down my database. I figured it was corrupt (not sure how it go that way since it worked fine last time I used it, and I hadn't made any changes to it) and copied over it with a its backup from a backup database. I got the error again and it closed my database.

I then double clicked the database icon to start the database and access opens, but doesn't open my database. Because I can't open the database, I can't compact and repair it.

Any ideas?

Try holding down Shift when you open your db. It's worked for me before when I had a corrupt db.

You can try two things

1. Open a blank instance of MS Access program and then goto Tools-->Database Utilities......... and then try selecting and compacting your database.

2. If above fails then create a blank database and then import all the objects from old database in to the new. If some objects are corrupt than import process will stop/freeze for them, helping you to identify the problem in a better way. Try this process for few times and you should be to recover most of your work.

In my experience, mostly the corruption happens at JET file structure level and when you import all forms, reports etc. in to a new file, you get a clean working database.

I tried all of these things and no luck. I guess I'll just start from my backup.

Thanks for the suggestions.
