Ok I am very new at this, just started Access last week. I have been busting my butt over this project for some time now and although I can confidently it does most of what it is supposed to do, there are a few things that I simply cannot figure out for the life of me! Please help me:
I have to do a calculation. I have an Inventory table that has the item quantity and price in it, Then there is the Sales table that has the actual amount sold along with the percentage of sales tax applicable. Whenever a sale is made:
1) you multiply the inventory_price with the sale_tax (like .8 for 8%) and add it with the original price (inventory_price) to get ther sale_price. I don't know how to do this calculation, where to get it done (as in what lets me instruct it to calculate numbers for me.) And finally, once calculated how to insert it in the sales_tax field in the sales table.
2) Then you subtract the sales_quantity from the inventory table's inventory_quantity to update inventory status. I haved no clue how to do this either.l
Any and all help is appreciated.
Ok, that said, the second problems I am having is with a login screen. Sorry guys I am a complete noob at this:
I have a student table containing student IDs and passwords. I want the students to be able to use a large section of teh switchboard items, but they first must login, And that is where I face the trouble. Having set up a form for entering ID and password, how do I cross-reference it with the student ID and password table to verify the student. I am stumped and on the edge of my patience and energy. I really need solid help with this,
Please bear in mind, while replying, that I am very new at this so most of the functions in Access dont make sense to me. If you refer to an action or a feature of Access please explicitly define it where it located as well.
I will really appreciate it!
Peace and God Bless,
