Morning, could anyone advise as the most cost effective way to gain a qualification that is relevant to MS Access. I am an IT Analyst and have the basics, and have developed some good databases, however my knowledge of Visual Basic is zero. I have had my personal development reveiw and have been told there maybe some funding for a course. I did start the MCDBA but unfortunately the company folded just as was getting the VBA bit.

Google: Access Course. Depending on your country you'll get numerous hits.

What is did was i bought a book about Access (2.0) and read it from cover to cover. VBA is not that hard to understand. If it was i'd do something else right now.

Enjoy!

I went on an Excel VBA training course once when I had very little knowledge of the subject and didn't find it very helpful. Then a few years later, still with very limited knowledge of VBA, I bought the Dummies guide to Excel VBA and found it far more practical and useful.

I've not been on any Access courses, but I think it would be a similar experience. In trying to learn Access and Access VBA I've found the Dummies guide to Access and the Dummies guide to Access VBA, both to be very useful.

My advice would be better to spend a dollar fifty in late fees at the local library and actually learn something, rather than a few hundred pounds on a potentially useless qualification.
