Hi all!!! I m learning access 2007 by myself and doing a project which sounds like inventory system.

I have encountered a problem here.
My table will included all details which the stock will come in and go out from the storage.
And now i wanna create a user interface from the table i mentioned which will allow user to key in stock in and stock out data in 2 different forms.
Can i break the table into two small tables which contain (a) Stock In and (b) Stock Out data??? So that i can create form of interface frm those small tables??
How am i gonna to do this???
Please help.

Thanks in advance!

Well, you only have one table and without knowing anything else I say you have a problem. Let's start with...

Jeff Conrad's resources page...
http://www.accessmvp.com/JConrad/accessjunkie/resources.html
The Access Web resources page...
http://www.mvps.org/access/resources/index.html
A free tutorial written by Crystal (MS Access MVP)...

MVP Allen Browne's tutorials...

Sample data models...

And then have a look at...

I have attached my database here. When i insert a new record (record with transaction no.6) by using the form for Item In, why cant I see the updated information in InQuery1 and tblmain??

Thanks for your time.

I don't understand... you have to *commit* the record before it shows in the table(s). In other words, the record has to be saved either by going to another record or forcing a save with a button. It does not show just by the act of typing in the new information.

I added save record button into my form but the tblmain cant seem to be updated also(when i save record with transaction no.6)

Thanks for your time!

tblMain is not the RecordSource of either of those forms... I see, I misunderstood before. You would need to write and APPEND query to get the information into that table.

AND that brings up another issue, why would you need the same data stored in seperate tables? That is not a normalized database. Did you review the links I provided in my earlier post?

I have done some studies on the inventory database that was linked to the website u gave.
I can get the result I want so far. However, when I tried to enter data through my form, I found that the form is messy for user. It contains Item In and Item Out details in the same form. It looked unorganized.

The form does not look unorganized to me but if you think that then redo it. (Please do not under estimate your Users when it comes to what they will understand when entering data.) I am still concerend that you are *still* using one table. Where are the tables that are going to store the Items?

the user will just enter data on the form, then the data will be stored in the main table. Hope i not making you confused.
Thanks lots!!

If you want the data in tblMain then you will hqve to write an APPEND query to send them there. Right now, that table is not the RecordSource of the form.

sorry but can I know which query that I gotta append and where to append? To tblmain? I face some problem in appending the query.
Thanks for ur time.

Ummm, let me say this... I truely do not even understand your logic OR the purpose of this database. You say it's like Inventory, well, I've done Inventory and your tables make no sense to me and tells me you really are at the beginning of learning Access. So, rather then jumping into an APPEND query that I'm sure in the end will not give you what you want. Let's back up and start with...

You obviously missed them the first time I posted them. AND somewhere in there is a lesson about queries. PLEASE read :D

thanks for your links!!
I will study about it and get back to you.
