Data type mismatch error

Access 2012, XP

In qryA I have a field of numbers. QryB is based on qryA, and pulls in ONLY the field with numbers. When I try to sum the field of numbers in qryB, I get the following error:

Data type mismatch in criteria expression.

I am trying to sum the column by first selecting the Totals function, and then selecting "sum" in the "Total" line (Design view).

I don't see anything except numbers in the field. The property for the field indicates "Standard." So I'm stumped.

Ideas?

Go to the query window, select SQL view, copy the code you see and post it.

Seeing numbers in the field does not mean that access treats them as numbers. You can have a text string of numbers and Access will not treat them as numbers ie you cant perform any arithmetic or mathematical functions on it.
