database front-end on your pc back-end in sharepoint

Hi All,

I am a real Access beginner and have built (slowly and painfully) a database from scratch. Having completed it I split it into front and back end files and emailed the front end file to my colleagues who need to use the database. They have each saved this onto their desktop while the back end resides on in SharePoint. However, I have found that each person has been left with an independent front end database that does not update into the backend files when changes are made. I have used the linked table manager to establish the links and there are linked to

Car Costing1 C:\User\test\Shareponit\Dpv Team Site-doc /back-end\dbdvp_be.accdb

i did this because i thought that folder was linked to the sharepoint site, now the_doc_man told me it is not it is on my pc, when i press link it doesn't let me put the web address in so do i need to make a network map? and do i need to do this for every front-end

I see you found how to make a new thread.

OK, I have to now back out a bit. If you are really using SharePoint, I have no experience in that product. It was coming into our office slowly just as I was ready to retire. I don't recall that any of my active projects used it.

If this were a standard BE as opposed to SharePoint, I would tell you to explore the concept of URS mapping as in that case, you don't have to worry about drive letters. I have used that many times. Works like a champ. However, I don't know if SharePoint will work with URS mapping.

My setup is pretty much just like yours. My main tables are linked sharepoint lists and the remaining tables are either on a shared drive or part of the front end, depending on frequency of use.

It sounds like you tables are not properly linked. Can you post a screen shot of the navigation pane?

Attached is a screen shot of what linked tables look like...notice the gold datasheet icon. Does yours look like this?

no there not gold there just got a stairs by them, i did export my tables and then imported them then i had gold like your photo but my tables was there but no data

It's a start. I was under the impression that you already had SharePoint lists with data. Is this the case? If so, you are doing the linking process backwards...
