Hello everyone.

I have just made up a database for work, it is a basic stores system where people have to book in and out the items to update the quantities manualy. I have a tick box for "on demand" which i have linked to a query for all items on demand etc.

I am just wondering if anyone can suggest any good ideas that would make the database even better, more automatic type things would be good.

We have a demands for which is just a word document I was wondering if there was anyway I could use it someway so that with one click the items that requiring demanding are put onto the form?

i am just looking for any ideas that would turn my database from good to great.

I hope that you can help

Your question is extremely wide-open. It is almost too much for us to answer when in that form. I'm going to give you a list of topics you can use to search the forum.

First, look up "Booking" - which is at least part of what you are talking about.

Then, look up "Applications Object" in forum search and in Access help. You can read or write Word documents from Access.

In order to manipulate the contents of a Word document, you need to understand "Collections" - which WILL require some VBA coding.

Now, it is just possible that instead of taking the VBA approach, you could also create a MailMerge template, in which case you can pretty easily build a query showing what you want and use it to populate your merged output document. So both in Word and in Access help, look up "MailMerge" (or as two words.) Also search the forum, same caveat about one or two words.

While you are searching these forums, also look for "inventory" and "stock control". Plenty of threads for you to read.

One thing I have been wondering . . at the moment People have to change the quantity of the stock manualy is there any way of doing this by just clicking a button for adding or subtracting (sometimes more than one item at a time)

Yes, do the search and look at threads that deal with calculating balances.
