Last Friday one of the users of a production Access database came to me saying that the database was empty.

I checked it out and it was missing all the tables, queries, forms, marcos, etc.

Later that day I found another Access Database in the same condition.

We had some network problems earlier in the week, but that doesn't seem to explain how this could happen. Does anybody have any ideas?

Two ideas:
Did you really open a database which should contain objects?
Perhaps your objects are hidden. Display them using the menu tools|options

HtH:D

Guus2005: Yes I am sure that the database should contain objects. I use this database almost every day. In fact I selected it from the list of recently used workspaces that pops up when I fire up Access.

No... These objects are not hidden objects.

Sounds like corruption to me. Is this a split database where each user has a copy of the frontend on their machine or is it a shared file that is opened from a server location? If the latter, you need to move it to the split and non-shared frontends. Using a shared file is almost guaranteed at some point to corrupt. And network issues (dropped packets) will assuredly corrupt it if someone is connected when the packets get dropped.

boblarson: Yes it is the latter. Thanks for the suggestion. That's an excellent idea.
