I have a small database I created several years ago and use nearly daily. The database opens to a main form that consists of of combination of tables, etc. Recently it has been opening filtered to an old [ Filter by Form ] search. Nothing I do seems to get it to stop that behavior.

I have at least one other database that has begun doing the same thing.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Using Office 2007

Is this 'main form' you mentioned populated by a query?

No.

I did find the [ Filter ] attribute to be loaded and deleted that. It no longer opens filtered. It does seem VERY strange that upon closing of the database 'un-filtereed' that the [ Filter ] attribute would retain the old filter string. :(

Thanks

Very odd. We experience some strange things like that from time to time. We have endeared these occurances with the moniker of more "Access Shenannigans"

I finally had to add Me.Filter = "" in the _Close event. Otherwise any Filter by Form performed at run time turns into herpes: once you get it - you got it.

Actually, it isn't strange if you ever have used:

DoCmd.Close acForm, "FormNameHere", acSaveYes

the acSaveYes says to save DESIGN CHANGES to the form. This can cause filters to remain when they shouldn't. It should be acSaveNo which would be used.

I believe there is another condition which results in persistent filters but I can't think of it right now.

This particular form is instanced upon opening of the db.
