Just a quickie. (i hope)
i have no problem with splitting a databsae and linking to its tables across a network as such.
what i was wondering is if it is possible to speed things up a bit.
ie. keep the front end with the graphics reports etc on 1 machine. the tables on the backend and have the queries on the back end as well.
the idea is instead of retrieving all the data for the query you will just be sending instructions to the backend to perform the query then send the results through to the front end.
i know this is the idea of SQL but unfortunately i dont have any experience wirth SQL and dont have access to an sql server etc.
i dont this this sort of set up will be possible in access97 and am really just after confirmation before i go wasting mine and someone elses time.
thkans for any help.
